Governor Jishnu Dev Varma on Thursday inaugurated the 108-feet tall national flag at Mehdipatnam Garrison at a function organized by the Indian Army.
Special Principal Secretary Home CV Anand, Director General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh, senior army officers, civilian dignitaries, representatives of the Flag Foundation of India, soldiers, veterans and NCC cadets attended the event.
The program included a guard of honor, the raising of the tricolor and the playing of the national anthem. Addressing the gathering, the governor paid tribute to the bravery and professionalism of the armed forces and appreciated the sacrifices of the soldiers and their families. He also appreciated the contribution of veterans and veer naris and urged NCC cadets to uphold the values of discipline, service and patriotism.
He thanked Naveen Jindal, President, Flag Foundation of India, for sponsoring the 108-feet mast and appreciated the foundation’s efforts to promote respect for the national flag. Expressing gratitude to the Governor, Major General Rahul Dev Sharma, General Officer Commanding, Bison Division, said the installation reflected coordination between the civil administration and the military.
