January 30, 2026

The Ravi Shastri-backed Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament has been postponed and will now take place after the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka, organizers confirmed on Friday. The inaugural edition was originally scheduled to take place from 30 January to 2 February at the Bayuemas Oval in Selangor, but was postponed due to logistical issues.

A statement issued by the organizers clarified that the decision to push back the tournament was taken after consultation with all key stakeholders. The new dates of the competition will be announced after the T20 World Cup. “The Pro10 Malaysia cricket tournament has been postponed to a later date, after the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup in India, due to logistical issues. New dates will be announced in due course,” the statement said.

The organizers added that they unanimously supported the change of date. “All stakeholders, including cricketers, match officials and the Malaysian Cricket Association, agree to the postponement and have given their full support to the tournament,” the statement added.

The Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) also contributed to the decision, saying it looked forward to announcing the revised dates and the opportunity to host the tournament later this year. The MCA’s support is seen as crucial to the smooth running of the event when it is finally staged.

As part of a significant change aimed at improving competitiveness, organizers have confirmed that the translated edition will see an increase in the number of teams from three to four. The move is expected to ensure better balance and more matches, increasing the overall appeal of the tournament.

Malaysia’s Pro10 tournament, which was announced in November last year, attracted attention due to the involvement of former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri, who supported the initiative. West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards has been appointed brand ambassador, adding further profile to the competition as it looks set to establish itself in the cricketing calendar.
