(Photo file) Island Cricket has targeted the Pakistan Cricket Board over the past week through a series of sarcastic social media posts reacting to developments related to the ICC T20 World Cup.In its latest post, Island Cricket said that even if Pakistan pulled out of the tournament now, Iceland would not be in a position to replace them, citing a lack of preparation time.

In a sarcastic post on X Island Cricket, he wrote: “It is with a heavy heart that we now announce our unavailability to replace Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Regardless of whether they withdraw now, the short timescales ensure that it is impossible for our team to prepare in the professional manner necessary to compete effectively in this global cricket spectacle. We are unable to turn on Scotland and sponsor any kit.”The post further explained the background of its players and their commitments outside of cricket. “Our players come from all walks of life and cannot simply leave their professions and fly halfway around the world to experience the temperatures commonly found in Finnish saunas. Our captain, a professional baker, has to tend his oven, the ship’s captain has to steer his vessel and our bankers have to go broke (again). This is the harsh reality of cricket at the amateur level of the game,” the post said.“This news will be extremely disappointing to our fans. Despite being the most peaceful nation on Earth, we maintain an army of online followers and are the 14th most watched national commission in World X. We were ready to give the Dutch the biggest shock they had experienced since William of Orange lost the Battle of Landen in 1693. And the Americans were looking forward to opposing Greenland, or so Donald Trump thought their orange and orange leader would experience Greenland.” Island Cricket also mentioned Uganda in the same post and said that Pakistan’s absence may benefit them if it happens. “Our loss is probably Uganda’s gain. We wish them well. Their kits are a must unless you have epilepsy, in which case they are probably best avoided,” it added.Meanwhile, the Mohsin Naqvi-led Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to take a final decision on Friday. Reports say that the Pakistan team has already booked their travel plans and will travel to Colombo along with the Australian team.
