The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has sent an internal memo to its employees directing them to brainstorm and suggest measures to improve revenue and rationalize expenditure amid what the management described as a critical financial situation.
According to the release, the financial distress of the transport juggernaut is primarily due to the revision of the wage scale of 2017. TGSRTC is facing liabilities, including dues to banks, contributions to pension funds and other liabilities, according to the release.
As part of the proposed measure to improve the situation, the management proposed a structured brainstorming session at various levels of the state transport company. These are to be held in warehouses, workshops, shops and hospitals run by TGSRTC. The goal is to identify methods or processes to improve revenue, reduce operating costs, minimize inefficiencies, and optimize existing systems. The exercise will also explore options for greater automation and mechanization of operations.
Warehouse managers have been invited to organize these brainstorming sessions in their respective units and submit concrete proposals by February 10. Regional managers, in turn, were instructed to draw up and submit action plans aimed at achieving the same goals by February 20.
The proposals received from across the organization are to be consolidated at the TGSERTC headquarters at Bus Bhavan. Based on the completed action plan, management is expected to implement implementation measures from March 1.
