Ports Minister VNVasavan told the assembly on Wednesday that the state government is making vigorous efforts to develop port land under the Kerala Maritime Board, maritime logistics and maritime industries with private participation.
The government is also taking steps to develop Kollam and Beypore ports under the Kerala Maritime Board with private participation. Port operation and development is a highly competitive industry that requires huge investment and can only survive if changing technologies are used effectively.
As the development of Vizhinjam International Seaport with private participation has been a great success, the government is examining the Kerala Maritime Board’s proposal to develop the small ports of Kollam and Beypore ports under the Kerala Maritime Board with private participation, he said.
