Politicians from Telangana cutting across party lines condoled the untimely death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash near Baramati in Pune district on Wednesday (January 28, 2026) morning.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the demise of the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister. He prayed for strength to the bereaved family.

Condoling the demise of the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K. Chandrashekar Rao said Ajit Pawar – who began his public life as a farmer movement leader and became a senior political figure in Maharashtra while serving in various key positions – leaves an irreparable void in Maharashtra. KCR expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
Telangana BJP president N. Ramachander Rao said it was extremely disturbing to learn that a plane carrying Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met with an accident while trying to land at Baramati, resulting in his death along with several others.
“I express my deep shock at this tragic event and express my sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident and may God give strength and courage to the bereaved families in this time of grief,” he said in a statement.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Panchayat Raj, Danasiri Anusuya (Seethakka) recalled his services to the people of Maharashtra. Ms. Seethakka said the death of Ajit Pawar is an irreparable loss to the politics and public life of Maharashtra. She noted that his contribution to public service will always be remembered.
Mr. Ponnam Prabhakar said that the untimely death of Ajit Pawar was a great loss to Maharashtra politics and pointed out that the late leader had extensive experience in the political environment of the state.
BRS Working President KT Rama Rai expressed shock at the demise of the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and said Ajit Pawar was a seasoned leader with strong civic ties and had dedicated decades of service to the people of Maharashtra.
Tourism and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao lauded Ajit Pawar, saying he has left an indelible mark on Maharashtra politics. “Pawar rose step by step from the grassroots, earned a reputation as an effective administrator and his death is an irreplaceable loss to Maharashtra. Pawar’s proactive approach to solving public problems and his vision for development were truly inspiring,” he said.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC B. Mahesh Kumar Goud expressed deep shock at the tragic death, said Ajit Pawar, who has become a major political leader in Maharashtra and recently became the Deputy Chief Minister, leaving an irreparable void in Maharashtra politics.
