The Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone, arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly illegally procuring and selling steroid injections without a valid license or medical prescription and seized drugs and equipment worth ₹1.60 lakh in Attapur.
Accused Mohd Faisal Khan, a worker at a furniture store and a resident of Kishanbagh, was in possession of 133 injection vials of Mephentermine Sulphate 30 mg, 100 disposable syringes and a mobile phone.
According to the police, Faisal Khan used to visit the gym regularly and came to know about the demand for steroid injections among the youth looking for rapid muscle growth. He allegedly started procuring injections from the Surat company and selling them to known customers at exorbitant prices without a permit or medical prescription.
Acting on a tip-off, the Western Zone Task Force apprehended him while he was carrying the injections. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to buying the drugs through Indian Mart and supplying them locally.
Police said the unauthorized sale of such injections poses serious health risks and violates provisions of the Medicines and Cosmetics Act. Individuals who consumed injections were advised to seek medical advice.
