District Collector Sri Sathya Sai A. Shyam Prasad and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar participated in the 77th Republic Day celebrations on Monday (January 26, 2026) at a parade.
The Collector told the gathering that Sri Sathya Sai district has huge potential for tourism and cultural renaissance citing the presence of historical monuments like Penukonda and Lepakshi fort as well as cultural strengths like Dharmavaram silk sarees and puppetry.
He said the district is making remarkable progress in industrial development and providing employment opportunities to the rural youth. The Collector said apart from prioritizing irrigation and drinking water, there has also been rapid transformation of the district into a vibrant horticulture hub.
The main attraction of the celebrations was a demonstration by the police dog unit, emphasizing skills in crime detection, drug identification and agility exercises. The district police also set up an information booth demonstrating cyber crime prevention, fingerprint analysis and crime investigation tools. Officers and staff with exceptional service records were honored with DGP awards, merit certificates and best service awards.
At Madanapalle in Annamayya district, District Collector Nishant Kumar unfurled the national flag and received a guard of honor from the police. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Addressing officials, staff and students, the Collector highlighted the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged citizens to uphold constitutional values, discipline and civic responsibility.
Joint Collector Shiv Narayan Sharma, Chief Financial Officer D. Madhusudhan Rao, other senior officials, collection staff and students attended the ceremony.
At Sainik School in Kalikiri Mandal, the celebrations included an impressive march led by a contingent of Shakti girls and a class XII passing parade. Cultural programmes, pictorials on the theme ‘Swarna Andhra @ 2047’, academic and sports awards and Principal’s address reinforced patriotism, discipline and importance of constitutional duty among the cadets.
