
India celebrated its 77th Republic Day on Sunday (January 26, 2026) with a vibrant and grand procession at Kartavya Path themed ‘150 Years of Vande Mataram’.
The parade began with President Droupadi Murma, who saluted shortly after she arrived at the Kartavya Trail in a traditional buggy along with European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The audience included Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, several other Union ministers, the country’s top military officials, foreign diplomats and senior officials.
Major weapon systems on display included the BrahMos and Akash weapon systems, the Surjastra missile launcher, the Arjun main battle tank and a range of indigenous military platforms and hardware. Around 100 artists heralded the parade, which had the theme ‘Vividata Mein Ekta (Unity in Diversity)’ and featured a grand display of musical instruments, demonstrating the nation’s unity and rich cultural diversity.
