After four days of protest march involving nearly 50,000 farmers and tribals in Palghar, a long tribal march began in Nashik on Sunday (January 25, 2026). More than 40,000 farmers and laborers launched a massive protest march led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the All India Kisan Sabha.
The protest was led by CPI(M) Political Bureau member and AIKS National President Dr. Ashok Dhawale, former Central Committee member of CPI(M) along with former AIKS State President JP Gavit and former CPI(M) Central Committee member, State Secretary and Joint National Secretary of AIKS Dr. Ajit Nawal,
The march led by the CPI(M) and AIKS addressed critical agricultural and labor issues. A statement issued by the CPI(M)-AIKS said, “The march raised issues related to the neglect of numerous assurances around the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and PESA, irrigation schemes, filling thousands of vacancies in Zilla Parishad schools, etc.
“And the second set of issues centers on the pro-corporate policies of the BJP-led central and state governments like the smart meter scheme, undermining of MNREGA and rural employment, land grabbing through government-corporate nexus, introduction of four labor codes, etc,” the CPI(M)-AIKS statement added.
