The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case of disproportionate assets against suspended Shamirpet tahsildar and joint sub-registrar Thummakomma Sucharita for amassing assets far beyond her known sources of income through corrupt and dubious means during their service.
ACB officials conducted searches at her residence and three other places associated with her relatives, sons and associates.
During the searches, the officials identified agricultural land of 2 acres and 17 guntas in Damarakunta village of Siddipet district, three flats in different parts of Hyderabad and two plots in Keesara and Khanamet villages. Investigators also found cash of around ₹12,000, two cars, gold and diamond ornaments worth around ₹1.20 lakh and bank balances of ₹38,000.
According to the ACB, the total value of the assets found during the searches is more than ₹5.05 crore. Officials said the property’s market value is likely to be significantly higher than its deeded value.
The ACB said further verification of other assets is underway and the investigation is still ongoing.
Sucharita was already arrested in a separate bribery case on 26 May after she was jailed when she demanded a bribe of ₹30 million and accepted a partial payment of ₹2 million. She was produced before a special court for the SPE and ACB cases and is currently in judicial custody.
The ACB has urged the public to report cases of bribery by public servants through its toll-free number 1064.
