A man accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) case, who was taken to the Kannur District Hospital for medical examination under police custody, allegedly went on a rampage inside the hospital on Friday (January 23) and broke the glass panes of the trauma ward cubicle.
The accused, identified as Parmeshivan, a native of Tirunelveli, damaged the glass panes of the injured doctor’s cabin when he was taken for a mandatory medical examination. No one was injured in the incident.
Police said the accused had earlier damaged a police jeep at the Valapatnam police station, indicating a pattern of violent behaviour.
Following the incident, hospital superintendent MK Shaji lodged a complaint with the Kannur city police demanding action under the Hospital Protection Act against the accused. An investigation is underway.
