
Parigi MLA T. Rammohan Reddy has been appointed as the state coordinator for the revival and strengthening of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA), which the Congress party has identified as vital for ensuring the livelihood of the rural poor and labourers.
Mr. Reddy was appointed at the meeting of All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) in New Delhi under the banner of “Mgnrega Bachao Morcha” which was President of Opposition Leader ruhul Gandhi and Congress President Malikarjun khagee.
The meeting reviewed the impact of the policy changes made by the Center and expressed concern over reduction in allocations and delay in payment of wages under MGNREGA. The Congress leadership also discussed the shape, strategy and action plan of the nationwide movement to be undertaken in the coming days to protect and revive the Act.
