Why did Fortis Hospital pass the inspection? Here’s what we know

The statement came after Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered an inquiry after receiving a complaint during ‘Jan Sunwai’. The complainant allegedly alleged that the hospital demanded payment before treating the person who had been stabbed and that the delay in providing timely medical care claimed his life.

A statement from the Delhi CMO added, “Based on a complaint received during CM Jan Sunwai, Hon’ble Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta directed the district administration to conduct an immediate inspection of Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh. A team of officials conducted an on-site inspection at the hospital. Irregularities were observed. A detailed report on the same will be scrutinized.”

According to a statement issued by the Delhi government, an inspection team led by the Central District Magistrate, accompanied by officials from the Health Department, Delhi Municipal Corporation, Delhi Fire Service and other departments, inspected the hospital on Thursday.

The inspection team examined CCTV footage and records kept by the hospital’s emergency department. The footage revealed that the injured youngster walked into the emergency room alone, suggesting early treatment could have saved his life.

The statement further states that the inspection revealed alleged violations of building codes, unauthorized construction, deficiencies in fire protection measures, improper use of the basement and material violations of standard operating procedures related to medical protocols.
