The western part of Hyderabad will be the recipient of several major infrastructure projects to be developed by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, which include a 9 kilometer long corridor at a cost of ₹1,656 crore.
The elevated corridor is planned to connect Banjara Hills with Shilpa Layout in Kothaguda and provide signal-free access to the outer ring road at Gachibowli. It will be developed in two phases that will connect key areas like Film Nagar and Hitech City. The first phase is planned on a five-km stretch between Film Nagar and Shilpa Layout and in the second phase on a four-km stretch between the Integrated Command & Control Center tower and Hakimpet Kunta.
The elevated corridor is expected to ease traffic by connecting key activities such as Banjara Hills, Film Nagar, Narne Road, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub and Shilpa Layout, improving mobility in the Raidurg–HITEC City region. A portion of the route passing through defense-owned land is pending clearance, HMDA informed. It will also serve as an alternative parallel route to the existing radial road from Mehdipatnam to Gachibowli, reducing traffic conflicts.
The project is designed with a combination of 4-lane and 6-lane configurations, including both level and elevated sections. A total of six entry and exit points at major intersections are planned at Road No. 82 (Film Nagar), Narne Road, Road No. 52, ITC Kohenur Road, T-Hub Junction and Auro Realty Junction.
The Urban Development Authority has also announced a “world-class” tube replacement in Budvel, which connects the second radial road to the Outer Ring Road and integrates into the Budvel layout. The ₹488 crore project, which is currently in the tender stage, will enhance connectivity to Budvel, Musi Riverfront, Gachibowli, Shamshabad and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and will be funded through HMDA infrastructure bonds, the statement said.
Through its arm Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited, HMDA is taking over the 3.57 kilometer long pipeline from Shankarpally road to MGIT to Manikonda. This will ease traffic congestion in the surrounding areas of Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda, Narsingi and others. The government has given administrative sanction for ₹110 crore and the proposal includes the construction of a six-lane carriageway with a 10-metre median to accommodate a heritage canal, drain and footpath on both sides of the carriageway. The project will include culverts and smaller bridges, intersection improvements and landscaping.
To resolve the congestion at Gachibowli junction, the left-hand carriageway of the ORR from Nanakramguda to Gachibowli will be widened from three lanes to four, HMDA announced. This will solve the traffic bottleneck caused by the traffic on the two flyovers constructed by GHMC towards Kondapur and Shilpa Layout. Tenders for the ₹ 26.50 crore project will begin from January 27, 2026, the statement said.
