Farmers, experts discuss action plan for quality shrimp farming
Farmers, aquaculture experts and stakeholders discussed the Community Action Plan (CAP) to grow quality shrimp and benefit small and medium scale aquaculture farmers in the state.
At a meeting held here on Thursday, Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), Fishwise, members of the Society for Agricultural and Social Development (ASDS), Monetery Bay Aquarium, Maritech and Essmart discussed supply of quality seed and feed, maintenance of tank water quality, disease control and specific pathogen free (SPF) shrimp farming.
ASDS Managing Director V. Gandhi Babu said the experts discussed the value chain in shrimp culture. Fishwise Deputy Director Kate o’Rourke highlighted the need for CAP implementation in coastal areas in AP.
Maritech CEO Sanathana Krishnan and Essmart CEO Prasanth Venkata Ramana asked students pursuing fisheries and aquaculture and research courses in various universities and colleges to enlighten the farmers about the CAP.
