The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Wednesday conducted a demolition drive at Nagadevanahalli in west Bengaluru to reclaim the disturbed land.
At least four earth-moving machines were deployed to raze the structures and sheds that were built on the BDA land. Nearly 10 makeshift shelters and small houses were demolished during the drive, which began on January 21.
The action is part of the demolition drive being carried out by the BDA, which has been going on for the last three years. The office created a special working group to remove illegally built structures on its land after a thorough verification of documents. But recently, a civic body demolished more than 20 houses in Thanisandra in northeast Bengaluru without informing the settled families.
A BDA source claimed that all procedures were strictly followed and encroaching plots were identified across the city after which a special team was formed.
