Telangana will be home to a first-of-its-kind beauty-tech global competence center (GCC) as the state government’s primary efforts bear fruit.
L’Oreal has made sure to invest in the state in November this year to set up its GCC with beauty technology as a niche area. L’Oreal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus gave the assurance to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy led the Telangana Rising delegation which invited him on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos.
Designed on a grand scale, the GCC would serve L’Oreal, the world-renowned cosmetics company, as a global hub for innovation, technology, data and supply chain. This would support L’Oréal’s global digital transformation, artificial intelligence and analytics initiatives, reinforcing Hyderabad’s growing position as a key hub for global business operations. “Technical solutions created from Hyderabad GCC will be delivered to our facilities around the world,” explained Mr. Hieronimus.
He invited the Chief Minister and Minister for Industries and IT D. Sridhar Baba to inaugurate the new facility. Mr. Sridhar Babu recalled that Mr. Revanth Reddy was very keen to bring the L’Oreal investment to Hyderabad and secured all possible support from the government.
He said that Hyderabad is the best destination for investment and that the state government is ready to extend full support to global investors. The state has led the GCC space not only in the medical and health technology sectors, but has also created new categories such as cosmetic technology, opening up new opportunities. Several large hospitality companies like Marriott have established GCCs in Telangana. When the delegation briefed him on the plans, Mr. Hieronimus was happy to learn about the AI Innovation Hub.
Special Principal Secretary IT and Industry Sanjay Kumar has invited L’Oreal to explore manufacturing in Hyderabad apart from the GCC investment. “Considering the expanded ecosystem and infrastructural advantages of our state, we would like L’Oreal to consider Telangana in its future manufacturing plans.” Mr. Hieronimus responded positively and expressed interest in exploring future investment in a manufacturing unit in Hyderabad.
