GST Day celebrations begin with a walkathon in Visakhapatnam
The Central Commissioner of GST, Visakhapatnam on Thursday kicked off the GST Day 2026 celebrations with a five kilometer march on Beach Road to create awareness about Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance among the public.
Officers and staff of GST Central Department participated in a walkathon which was organized from Kali Mandir to YMCA. The participants carried banners and placards highlighting this year’s GST Day theme, ‘Easy Tax System, Empowered India’ and sought to spread awareness about the importance of GST compliance and its benefits to the society.
Additional Commissioners Balram, Upendra Kumar Dhruv and P. Amaresh along with Joint Commissioner Sonal Jawanjal Subhash and other senior officers of the department attended the programme.
The commissioner said the week-long celebrations would conclude on July 1 with a function at the GST Bhavan to mark the ninth anniversary of the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax in the country.
