China confirmed on Tuesday that it had received an invitation to join US President Donald Trump’s ‘Board of Peace’, a global initiative aimed at resolving conflicts, including the war in Gaza, Reuters reported.
Washington extended the same invitation to several other countries. The initiative was proposed in October of last year and was announced by Trump on January 15, 2026.
But Beijing, which recently struck a delicate trade truce with Washington, has paused on whether to accept or decline the invitation.
“The Chinese side has received an invitation from the US,” Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry, told a regular news conference.
He declined to comment on whether China would accept the invitation.
