The construction and equipment of the Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) in Sanathnagar is nearing completion and according to Health Minister C. Damodara Raja Narasimha, the hospital is slated to be inaugurated in Ugadi in March.
The main building of the hospital is almost finished, only minor electrical installation work is expected. Installation of operating theatres, diagnostic equipment and other critical medical equipment is also in its final stages, with major machines including a state-of-the-art MRI scanner already in place.
The minister described Sanathnagar TIMS as a premier tertiary care facility that would function as a center of excellence for the treatment of heart-related diseases with provisions for advanced research. The hospital is also equipped with a modern organ transplant center and advanced operating theaters capable of supporting all types of transplant operations.
Planned as a multi-block super specialty facility, TIMS Sanathnagar has been designed to integrate all key medical services in one campus. In total, the hospital will have 16 large and six small operating rooms, as well as a diagnostic tract with 17 pathology laboratories, 12 microbiology laboratories, 10 biochemical laboratories and five specialized laboratories.
