Kalaburagi-based artist Mohammed Ayazuddin Patel has been selected for the Hyderabad Art Society’s Excellence Award to be presented during its 85th annual All India Art Exhibition 2026.
The award carries a cash prize of ₹25,000 along with a citation.
Mr. Patel’s award-winning mixed media work on canvas titled After Petrol Price depicts the hardships people face due to the constant rise in fuel prices.
Through painting, he highlights traditional modes of transportation, symbolized by the ox cart, as sustainable and permanent alternatives.
Hyderabad Art Society Secretary Jegati Venkateshwaralu said the award ceremony will be held on January 23 at the Hyderabad Exhibition Grounds.
Mr. Patel has participated in several international group exhibitions. He has also performed his solo digital art in various European countries.
A recipient of the National Award for Photography and Digital Painting recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Mr. Patel is known for his work in digital painting and mixed media. His artwork adorns public and private spaces across the country.
