Doon Medical College is making headlines after a shocking case came to light. Senior MBBS students of Dehradun’s premier medical college have been accused of torturing and assaulting their juniors. The incident took place at Government Doon Medical College in Patel Nagar, which came to light after a 2025 batch student filed a written complaint, ANI reported.
The student who was allegedly assaulted has complained of living in psychological distress and constant fear of retribution since the incident. In a written complaint filed by the dormitory supervisor on January 13, 2026, the student accused the upperclassmen of physically assaulting him with a belt just the day before outside the campus.
“I am afraid of retribution and it has shaken me,” the Times of India quoted the student as saying in its formal complaint.
The complainant accused two seniors from the classes of 2023 and 2024 of brutally assaulting him outside the college campus. According to the complaint, the student felt “shaken and scared” and alleged that the seniors later tried to intimidate him by harassing him in the hostel.
This prompted the university’s anti-vandalism committee to investigate the matter. The probe revealed the involvement of 24 students. As part of its disciplinary procedure, the administration imposed fines on those students found guilty of indiscipline.
According to Medical College Principal Geeta Jain, the Anti-Arguing Committee is conducting a detailed investigation into the incident and the complaint is being handled with “zero tolerance”. Ordering this strict action against the delinquent students, she said that the Disciplinary Committee has recorded the statements of the students and that indiscipline will not be tolerated in the college.
According to a statement from the school management, if the allegations against the students are found to be true, the accused students will be suspended from the college in addition to strict action.

The brutal assault on Pankaj Mishra allegedly took place on the night of December 15 around 10:00 PM. According to the FIR filed by the deceased journalist’s brother, a group of miscreants barged into the journalist’s residence in Doon Vihar, Jakhan and violently assaulted him with the intention of killing him.
The police have registered a case under sections 103, 304, 333 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
