World Cup T20: England Pakistan players get visas, others soon

January 18, 2026

The International Cricket Council has stepped in to facilitate visa formalities for all 42 players and officials of Pakistani origin heading to the T20 World Cup in India.

In England team, cricket players Pakistani lines include Adil Rashid spinnersRehan Ahmed and pacer Saqiib Mahmood.

USA will be represented by Ali Khan and Shayan Jahangir while Netherlands has Zulfiqar Saqib to name a few.

PTI has learned that visas have already been processed for England players Rashid, Rehan and Saqib.

The members of the Dutch section also received their visas. A Canadian employee, Shah Saleem Zafar, was also granted clearance.

Visa processing is currently underway for players and officials of Pakistani nationality or origin who are part of teams from the United Arab Emirates, United States of America, Italy, Bangladesh and Canada.

A visa meeting for these teams has already been scheduled for early next week, indicating that the process is moving into its final stages. The deadline for issuing visas for participants is January 31.

These clearances are considered an important early step given the diverse representation of players of Pakistani origin across the Associate and Full States.

The ICC exercise involves cricketers, officials and emergency personnel across the various teams, underscoring the governing body’s efforts to prevent any last-minute complications ahead of the global event.

The ICC, which oversees the coordination process, is in constant communication with Indian High Commissions in many cities across continents.

The aim was to ensure that visa applications for the remaining players and officials were processed efficiently and without procedural delays.

The Board received assurances that the pending cases would be disposed of smoothly within the stipulated time frames.

With visa facilitation progressing as planned, the ICC is confident that all participating teams will be fully prepared logistically before the start of the tournament on February 7.

Indian visa applicants of Pakistani origin attract more attention and the processing time is longer than usual.
