A free public science talk titled “Viewing the Sun’s Corona Without Waiting for an Eclipse” will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday (January 18) at the Priyadarshini Planetarium. The lecture will be given by David Berghmans, a renowned solar physicist from the Royal Observatory in Belgium. Dr. Berghmans will focus on modern scientific methods that allow researchers to observe and image the solar corona – the outermost layer of the sun’s atmosphere – without having to wait for rare total solar eclipses. The event is jointly organized by Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala State Science and Technology Museum (KSSTM), Thiruvananthapuram, Aastro Kerala, and Breakthrough Science Society, Thiruvananthapuram Chapter.
