The Bangladesh Cricket Board has proposed a radical idea to the International Cricket Council ahead of the 2026 T20 World Cup. In its mission to avoid traveling to India for the tournament, the BCB called on the world body to change its group in the competition.
BCB revealed the new details through a press release on Saturday, January 17, following their meeting with the ICC delegation that traveled to Bangladesh to discuss the ongoing T20 World Cup crisis.
“During the discussions, the BCB reiterated its formal request to the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s matches to Sri Lanka. The board also shared the views and concerns of the Bangladesh government regarding the safety and security of the team, Bangladeshi fans, media and other stakeholders,” BCB said in a press release.
“Discussions were conducted in a constructive, cordial and professional manner, with all parties engaging openly on the relevant issues. Among other things, the possibility of moving Bangladesh to another group was discussed as a means of facilitating this matter with minimal logistical adjustments,” it added.
