A 21-year-old woman was killed after her scooter was hit by a bus on State Highway 66 at Kuttippuram in Kerala’s Malappuram district on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Rifa, a native of Nilambur.
She was traveling towards Kuttippuram railway station when a bus carrying pilgrims from Sabarimala, Karnataka rammed into her scooter. The bus ran over her and she died on the spot, while her friend escaped with minor injuries.
Rif’s body was taken to the Government Taluk Hospital in Kuttippuram.
At the scene of the accident, construction work was underway on the highway and traffic restrictions were imposed.
