U19 World Cup: Pakistan’s Ali Raza’s moment of madness ends in comic exhaustion

January 17, 2026

Pakistan Under-19 fast bowler Ali Raza is the latest in a long list of hilarious run-outs that his countrymen have been involved in during their rich cricketing history. During their opening match of the 2026 U19 World Cup, Raza’s brain fade moment became the talk of the town as it resulted in a comical meltdown that entertained the audience.

During the 47th over of the second innings, Raza was the last man standing alongside Momin Qamar as Pakistan stared at certain defeat. However, no one could have imagined that Pakistan’s innings would end in the most bizarre way possible.

In the third over, Raza bowled the ball straight to the fielder and took a few steps, hinting for a single to his batting partner, but was denied and returned to the crease. However, when the throw-in came, the youngster took a few steps back in an attempt to avoid the ball, but failed to reach the crease in time as England keeper Thomas Rew pulled the bails.

As a result, Raza was exhausted in the most bizarre way possible, adding to his team’s suffering.

Earlier in the day, England reached 210 in 46.5 overs with Caleb Falconer top scoring with 66 (73) while Ben Dawkins also contributed 33 (38).

Ahmed Hussain was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, scalping three wickets in 38 runs. Meanwhile, Pakistan face Scotland in their second Group B match after their defeat on January 19, while England face Zimbabwe on January 18.
