ADILABAD
The Adilabad Two Town police on Wednesday continued their crackdown on the sale of banned manja (glass-coated thread) and booked a vendor for allegedly selling manja.
Police seized two charkas (wooden spindles) and 14 packets of manja worth ₹8,000 from him.
Police identified the accused as Abdul Rashid of Tamsi bus stand in Adilabad. A criminal complaint was filed against him.
Police have stepped up patrolling across the city to curb the sale of banned manja in the peak kite-flying season ahead of Sankranti scheduled for Thursday.
The special event coincides with an awareness campaign against the sale and use of manja, which poses a threat to humans, animals and birds.
