Former Barcelona manager Xavi is reportedly laying out his demands as speculation grows over his potential move to Manchester United this summer. The 45-year-old is being linked with replacing Ruben Amorim, whose time at Old Trafford has been underwhelming. However, Xavi has made it clear that he would only take the job under specific conditions.
According to a report from El Nacional, Xavi has requested the signings of two key players: Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Araujo. Additionally, he is pushing for a major overhaul of the current Manchester United squad. The Spanish coach is reportedly looking to sell Alejandro Garnacho, Andre Onana, and Matthijs de Ligt as part of his restructuring plans.
Garnacho and Onana have been subjects of transfer rumors for months, with potential exits from the club being discussed. Meanwhile, De Ligt, who joined from Bayern Munich last summer, was considered a secure part of the squad, but Xavi seemingly views him as expendable.
Xavi’s Plans to Reshape Manchester United
If appointed, Xavi’s proposed changes would represent a significant transformation for Manchester United. The club is expected to be active in the transfer market this summer, and Amorim has already hinted that sales will be necessary before new signings can be made. Alongside Garnacho, Onana, and De Ligt, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are also likely to leave when their contracts expire.
There is also growing interest from Chelsea in Kobbie Mainoo, who has recently made contract demands of his own. Xavi’s potential arrival could signal a fresh start for Manchester United, with a focus on rebuilding the squad to compete at the highest level.
