The new Levy Bonaparte bar faces accusations of racism as it pushes back against critics!
Bonaparte Cam shared how she and her husband, Lamar Bonaparte, have been affected by allegations of racial discrimination at their new bar, Zachary’s Daiquiris.
The Southern Charm star, 45, and her husband found themselves under fire after multiple negative reviews claimed that their newly enforced dress code unfairly targeted Black patrons. Now, Leva and Lamar are pushing back against what they call “false” and “harmful” accusations.
The controversy began when a patron named Joseph Bass left a detailed Google review, claiming that he and his group, which included several Black individuals, were subjected to a sudden change in the dress code.
“After we got our drinks and sat at the table outside, the bouncer came out and stood right next to the group of Black men, announcing that there was now a ‘new’ dress code banning torn jeans, athletic wear, and Jordans—which all the men were wearing,” Joseph wrote in his now-viral review. He argued that other patrons wearing similar attire were allowed in before the sudden change, suggesting selective enforcement of the rule.
“We confronted the bouncer, who made a comment, and I was told it was a directive from management. Very disappointing,” Joseph added.
His review quickly gained traction online, sparking widespread criticism and calls for a boycott of the bar. Many social media users accused the establishment of racial profiling, with some vowing never to visit.
“A ‘new’ dress code banning Jordans? Yikes,” one person wrote. Another added, “I refuse to spend my money somewhere that doesn’t welcome us.” Amid the growing backlash, Lamar issued a fiery statement on the bar’s official Instagram page, calling the accusations “completely false” and dismissing those spreading the claims.
“This is the first and last time you’ll hear from me on social media… I live in the real world and deal with real people,” Lamar wrote. He continued, “Being accused of racial profiling by a young TikToker with no POC is very 2025! For those who want to follow this ‘organized propaganda’ that we’re a ‘whites-only’ establishment, please kindly kiss my a**.”
Lamar insisted that their grand opening was a diverse event attended by “people from all walks of life, ethnicities, and genders.”
“Trying to tear down a local business with TikTok gossip is pathetic,” he added. “No, we won’t apologize because we’ve done nothing wrong. We have a dress code and enforce it after 8 PM. If you don’t like the way we do business, don’t come.” Leva also backed her husband’s statement, sharing it on her Instagram story.
Despite Lamar’s strong denial, critics remain unconvinced. A TikToker named Sarah Baus, who claims to be the wife of the original reviewer, doubled down on the accusations, stating, “The rest of us are in disbelief.”
She also claimed that once the group left, “half the line disappeared with them.” Sarah further alleged that after her husband’s Google review went viral, it was mysteriously removed, and a new business page for Zachary’s Daiquiris suddenly appeared online.
In response, Leva dismissed Sarah as a “viral opportunist” and called her claims “blatant lies.” The Southern Charm couple explained that they have no plans to apologize or change their policies, but the controversy continues.
New episodes of Southern Charm air Thursdays at 8/7c on Bravo, followed by Southern Hospitality at 9/8c.
