Madhu Bangarappa is a free online textbook for NCERT Class 6 ‘R3’
Former Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa has raised strong objections to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)’s title of Class 6 Kannada textbook ‘R3’ and its controversial content.
He said on social media, “The idea of God and religion in this book is an insult to the Kannada identity and is also a political and cultural oppression.
“NCERT recently released a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 6 Kannada textbook called Krishna, a name completely detached from our language and context. Despite the availability of highly relevant textbooks like Savi Kannada, Siri Kannada and Thili Kannada published by DSERT, NCERT chose to ignore them completely and published the identity of Kannada.
He further objected that the chapter on “A Balanced Diet” deliberately omitted mention of meat, fish and eggs, with only vegetarian options mentioned. “NCERT will immediately withdraw this textbook. They must work with our DSERT to design a new curriculum that truly reflects the culture, traditions and literary-cultural heritage of this land and provide it to our students without delay,” he urged.
