The traffic department begins investigating the death of the DTO

The Transport Department on Wednesday launched an inquiry into the death of District Transport Officer M. Venkanna, who was killed after he was run over by a truck loaded with coal in Ghanpur mandal of Mulugu district on June 22.

As part of the investigation, Joint Commissioner of Transport M. Chandrasekhar Goud visited the accident site and questioned the driver of the truck involved in the accident, the owner of the vehicle and the combine driver.

He later met the GENCO officials and collected the details of the coal transported in the truck on the day of the incident. Eyewitnesses were also spoken to and CCTV footage was reviewed.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the investigation included a meeting at the Ghanpur police station where details of the preliminary investigation conducted by the police were reviewed.

A preliminary report on the investigation is expected to be submitted to the transport commissioner within days.
