The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged donation irregularities at the Ayodhya Ram temple submitted its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday (June 23, 2026).

A team comprising Vijay Vishwas Pant, Lucknow Divisional Commissioner, along with two other members, visited the office of Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and handed over the report. Officials said the document is currently a preliminary report and further investigation may be needed.

They said the investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is still on and more facts are being gathered.

The Uttar Pradesh government had set up an SIT on June 13 at the request of a temple trust following allegations of misappropriation of donations received at the Ayodhya Ram temple.

Congress demanded the release of the report and pushed for a white paper on the donation issue with all records and bank statements.

“SIT since day one is an eyewash to protect the corrupt people who looted the faith of common devotee Bhagwan Ram. When the massive issue of corruption is in public domain, what is the confidentiality the government is doing. We demand that the report be made public. The need is to release all the records related to the money transactions of the trust and Ram Temple for transparency and wide accountability. CCTV footage of BJP-bank should also be released. They looted Ram Temple. We are also demanding an inquiry into the matter by a Supreme Court judge,” said Ajay Kumar Lallu, a senior Uttar Pradesh Congress leader.
