Speculation about the next chief secretary of Telangana is growing after Sanjay Jaju, a 1992 batch IAS officer of Telangana cadre, was repatriated to Telangana on Tuesday.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the repatriation of Mr. Jaja, who is currently the Secretary in the Ministry of Development of the North East Region. He has been in the central deputation for more than 15 years.
His sudden repatriation is also interesting as the current Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao will complete his extension on June 30 and no file has yet been moved to the Center for further extension. Mr. Jaju worked as Commissioner of the then Municpal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) before it was changed to GHMC. He also worked as District Collect West Godavari and Commissioner of Vishakapatnam.
The other two 1992 batch officers also in the race are Jayesh Ranjan and Vikas Raj. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan is currently serving as the Special Chief Secretary for Metropolitan and Urban Development in Telangana and also holds the additional charge of Sports and Tourism. Mr. Vikas Raj is serving as Special Principal Secretary, Department of Transport, Roads and Buildings (TR&B).
