Four were held in the murder of a gym trainer

More than two weeks after a gym trainer went missing and was later found dead, the Bannerghatta police have arrested four persons for the murder.

The victim, Vijay Kumar, 32, whose decomposed body was found on June 10 from Kaleshwari village near Anekal.

The arrested were identified as Srirama, Sumith, Venkateshaiah and Babu, all residents of Anekal.

Vijay, a native of Mulbagal in Kolar district and a resident of Electronics City, went missing on June 8. Police said he had been living separately from his wife and two children for the past two years following a matrimonial dispute and a case of dowry harassment.

Deputy Inspector General of Police S. Girish said the accused are in police custody and investigators are trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder and find out the involvement of other persons.

Meanwhile, Vijay’s family alleged that an influential builder was behind the murder after Vijay allegedly befriended the builder’s daughter, who was a client of his gym. The family claimed that the two had previously run away and were later tracked down by the police.

However, investigators said they have largely ruled out Vijay’s marital dispute as a motive and are following other leads.
