A police sub-inspector posted at Kollur police station in Cyberabad was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday (December 2, 2026) for accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a complainant.
The accused officer, identified as M. Ramesh, demanded a bribe to clear the complainant’s name from an offense registered under Section 318(4) (cheating on valuable security or property) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Essential Commodities Act. According to the ACB, the accused initially demanded ₹30,000 and had already accepted ₹5,000 on December 17, 2025.
An amount of ₹20,000 was recovered from the police officer’s possession. The accused was arrested and produced before the Special Court for ACB cases in Hyderabad.
Further investigations are ongoing, with the complainant’s identity being withheld for security reasons.
