A couple hailing from West Bengal, employed as domestic help at the businessman’s Sadashivanagar residence, were suspected of absconding with valuables worth ₹1.37 crore.
Shahir and his wife Hajira Begum worked in the house from 2022 to 2024 and left the job later. They reunited on December 27, 2025. On December 30, the businessman went to Coimbatore with his family to celebrate the New Year. They gave the house key to Begum to give to her relative who lived nearby.
When they realized that Begum had not given the key even late in the evening, the family became suspicious. They sent their car driver to check, who found that the wardrobes were open and the items stored inside had been stolen and the married couple had disappeared.
Sources said gold ornaments and luxury watches were among the missing valuables.
