Environmental enthusiasts Prakruthi Prakash and his daughter Blessi of Suddala village in Rajanna Sircilla district, who are known for their nature conservation efforts, have bagged roles in a biopic based on the life of veteran green crusader late Daripalli Ramaiah aka Vanajeevi Ramaiah.
The father-daughter duo have carved a niche for themselves in environmental awareness campaigns in the erstwhile composite district of Karimnagar.
They are playing short but powerful roles in the biopic titled ‘Vanajeevi’ to spread the green message, sources said.
The biography is produced under the banner of Paryavarana Parirakshana Films. The film is directed by Vemuganti and produced by music director Ballepalli Mohan.
The film depicts the illustrious life of veteran environmentalist late Daripalli Ramaiah of Reddypalli village in Khammam district, who was awarded the ‘Padma Shri’ award in 2017 for his selfless efforts in tree planting and care.
His groundbreaking contribution to increase tree cover earned him the title ‘Tree Man of Telangana’.
Vanajeevi is currently being shot at Komuravelli village in Siddipet district.
Key scenes with Prakash and Blessi, a VI student. classes of a state gurukul school, along with actor Brahmaji, who portrays the titular role of Vanajeevi Ramaiah, have already been shot.
The father-daughter duo’s vigorous planting of saplings, inspired by Vanajeevi Ramaiah, in their native district has received much appreciation from nature lovers, government and NGOs. Their green initiatives include dispersing thousands of seed balls in forest areas using drones.
It is a great honor to be a part of a biopic on Vanajeevi, an inspirational character, aptly named ‘The Tree Man of Telangana’, said Mr. Prakash, thanking the director for giving him and his daughter the opportunity to act in the film.
