Mysuru MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar has directed Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials to set up designated zones for street vendors as part of efforts to keep the city clean.
In a progress review meeting held at the MCC office on January 2, the MP said that proper measures are needed to support street vendors and instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive plan for the development of organized street vending zones.
Stressing the importance of safety, security and cleanliness, Mr. Wadiyar said that all vendors must be provided with adequate facilities. He made it clear that no vendor should be bothered during the process of setting up sales zones and emphasized that proper guidance should be given to them.
Noting that Mysuru is known for its cleanliness and rich cultural heritage, the MP said effective plans should be formulated and implemented to preserve the identity of the city. He also said that he would personally visit several of the proposed street vending zones along with officials to check the arrangements.
Mr. Wadiyar said that a decision has been taken to complete all related processes as soon as possible.
He further said that special hawker zones could be created during Dasara and other fairs, festivals and car festivals when there is a heavy influx of people and directed the officials to take necessary steps in this regard.
The meeting was attended by senior officials and officials of various committees.
