Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor on Thursday (January 1, 2026) took over as Deputy Chief of Air Staff, succeeding Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, who passed away after 40 years of distinguished service to the nation. An alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Defense Services Staff College and National Defense College, Air Marshal Kapoor is an accomplished fighter pilot with over 3,400 flying hours in the MiG-21 and MiG-29 aircraft.
He has held several key command, operational, instruction and staff positions, including Chief Air Officer Commanding, Training Command and Air Force Command Southwest, and is the recipient of several gallantry and distinguished service awards.
In another major development, Lt Gen Harpal Singh took charge as the 29th Director General of Border Roads on Thursday, formally taking over the reins of the Border Roads Organization (BRO). Commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in June 1991, he brings more than three decades of experience in a variety of command, staff and leadership roles.
Founded in 1960, BRO has been instrumental in developing strategic infrastructure in some of the most challenging terrains, strengthening national security and border connectivity. After taking charge, Lt Gen Singh appreciated the professionalism of the BRO personnel and greeted all ranks for the new year 2026.
