As 2025 draws to a close, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a note on the LinkedIn networking site, saying that this year will be remembered for India as the year it focused on “reforms as a continuous national mission, building on the ground covered in the last 11 years”. He said India has “emerged as the center of global attention” driven by the “innovative zeal of our people”.
The Prime Minister added that the world now sees India “with hope and confidence” and appreciates “the way the pace of progress has been accelerated by next-generation reforms that are cross-sectoral and enhance the country’s growth potential”.
He emphasized that the 2025 reforms focused on “modernizing institutions, simplifying governance and strengthening the foundations for long-term, inclusive growth.” Their goal was to enable “citizens to live with dignity, entrepreneurs to innovate with confidence, and institutions to function clearly and with confidence.”
Citing examples, he mentioned the GST reforms and noted that “a clean two-slab structure of 5% and 18% has been introduced” and that “the burden on households, small and medium enterprises, farmers and labor intensive sectors has been eased”. He added that the reform aimed to “ensure reduced disputes and better compliance” and “boosted consumer sentiment and demand”, with sales up during the Christmas season.
