The Chittoor district administration has made all arrangements for the smooth running of Vaikunta Ekadasi on Tuesday (December 30, 2025) and to face the New Year rush at temples, especially Sri Swayambhu Varasidhi Vinayaka Swamy Devasthanam at Kanipakam.
The Kanipakam temple is likely to witness a huge rush of devotees on three days — Vaikunta Ekadasi (December 30), Vaikunta Dwadasi (December 31) and New Year (January 1). The district administration expects a turnout of devotees to the tune of 60,000 each in three days. The temple authorities have been asked to set up queues inside and outside the temple to facilitate smooth darshan of devotees and also to ensure that no stampede-like situation occurs.
APSRTC authorities have been asked to run special services for the temple town. Electricity department officials have been asked to set up generators to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the temple and start the lighting work of the temple. A fire truck will also be available at the temple and medical camps will be organized by medical and health department officials at the temple.
The temple management has stopped the ‘Antaralaya Darshanams’ for the coming three days to allow more devotees to have darshan. A joint command dispatch center will be established to monitor security measures, traffic flow, and 200 police officers will be deployed on the bandobus.
In Anantapur district, Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh supervised the security arrangements in the district to meet the Vaikunta Ekadasi rush. He visited the ancient Chennakesava Swamy temple in the city and monitored the police bandobus, traffic control, CCTV surveillance and response mechanism to deal with any eventuality.
Mr. Jagadeesh said that visible policing has been strengthened in all temples to prevent chain ripping and other crimes and facilities have been made for smooth darshan of women and physically challenged persons.
