Rahul Gandhi arrives in Raipur to attend a Congress training camp

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi arrived in Raipur on Sunday to attend the party’s training camp for officials and functionaries of its Chhattisgarh unit.
Former chief minister Bhupesh Baghel, Chhattisgarh Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot, state party president Deepak Baij, former deputy chief minister TS Singh Deo received him at the airport when he arrived on a scheduled flight shortly after 2 p.m. A large crowd of party workers waved flags and raised slogans in support of Mr. Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha.
Mr. Gandhi proceeded directly to Abhanpur town in Raipur district where the training program is being held. He is scheduled to return to New Delhi later in the evening.
Strengthening citizen engagement
The 10-day training camp, held from June 20 to 29, is aimed at strengthening party organization and enhancing citizen engagement, a Congress functionary said. District Congress Committee presidents from across the state are participating in the programme, he said.
As part of the training, participants will undertake field visits, engage in shramdaan (voluntary community service) activities and spend a night in villages to gain first-hand understanding of local issues and strengthen their connection with local people, he said.
Experts on the subject will also conduct interactive sessions on a range of contemporary social, political and organizational issues during the camp, he added.
