A Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the government on Sunday (June 21, 2026) began an investigation into the alleged custodial death of Gade Sai Krishna, 25.

SIT chief and IGP M. Ravi Prakash along with members Adnan Nayeem Asmi and L. Sudhakar visited the task force office and Krishnalanka police station to inquire about the alleged custodial torture and death of Sai Krishna.

The NTR Police Commissionerate was conducting a simultaneous investigation into the illegal detention and examination of evidence in the case.

Meanwhile, leaders of YSRCP, CPI and Madiga Porata Samithi (MRPS) Reservation visited the house of Perupogu Kranti Kumar, who resorted to suicide due to alleged harassment by Circle Inspector SSVV Nagaraju, and consoled the bereaved family members. Mr. Nagaraju is said to be absconding and has been missing for the past few days after the government suspended him in connection with the murder case.

People staged a protest outside the house where Mr. Nagaraju was allegedly hiding and demanded his arrest. The family members of the victims have also called for the immediate arrest of the CI, saying that he may influence or threaten witnesses and obstruct the investigation of the case.
