Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Working President Nitin Nabin said on Friday (Dec 26, 2025) that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will not allow anyone to take away their voting rights, land or welfare systems.
Addressing the inaugural meeting of the Assam state BJP executive, Mr Nabin said infiltration was earlier passed off as “normal” in the state as previous governments kept quiet due to “vote bank” politics. He added that BJP and NDA are now working to send illegal migrants back.
“Some depend on infiltration to win elections, but the NDA will not allow that. People will be able to choose their own government,” Mr Nabin said. “Those who love this country, the tiranga (tricolor) and the constitution are citizens of this country and their rights to vote, land or plans will not be taken away.”
Referring to the earlier governments in Dispur and Delhi, he said they were silent on the issue of infiltration which adversely affected the rights of genuine citizens. “But the public has reposed faith in NDA and BJP and we are taking steps to send the infiltrators back. I thank the people of Assam and the North East for this trust. The government alone cannot achieve this; people also need to be aware,” he added.
Referring to the recent Bihar Assembly elections, Mr. Nabin said that the allegation of “sick elections” had been categorically rejected by the electorate.
With Assembly elections to be held in Assam next year, he said the party was ready to face any challenge and stressed the importance of organizational strength to secure another term. “There is no threat to the BJP-led coalition in the state. We must work together to ensure victory for all alliance partners,” he said.
“Candidates may change but our commitment to the party and the alliance remains. Our leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee led the largest alliance in the country and we continue that legacy,” Mr Nabin added.
He also highlighted the development initiatives taken in Assam under successive BJP governments and said the party remains committed to the growth of the state and the Northeast.
The inaugural meeting was attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP National Vice President Baijayant Jay Panda, Union Minister Pabitra Margherita, National General Secretary (Organization) BL Santosh and State General Secretary (Organization) Rabindra Raju.
Earlier, Mr Nabin was received at the airport by Mr Sarma and other party leaders. “Delighted to welcome Hon’ble National Working President @BJP4India, Shri @NitinNabin ji at Guwahati Airport,” the Chief Minister wrote on X. “She will be attending State Executive & State Central Committee meeting of @BJP4Assam & will enthuse our karyakartas ahead of #AssamElections2026.”
