International Yoga Day 2026 Highlights: Leaders, Yoga Enthusiasts Take Part in Celebrations Across the Country

From the high mountains to the parade ground in the plains, a large number of armed forces members took part in yoga classes across the country on Sunday (June 21, 2026) to mark International Yoga Day.

All military commands of the three services – Army, Navy and Air Force – prepare for this annual event, which aims to promote physical fitness, mental resilience and holistic well-being.

In the national capital, the Indian Army is holding an event at the Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi.

Army jawans and others, deployed in a huge grid formation, stretched their arms and legs to perform various ‘asanas’.

“The yoga at Cariappa Parade Ground started around 6 am. About 3,500 people gathered at the venue, including army personnel and their families, several defense attachés, NCC cadets and school children,” a senior army officer told PTI.

Similar events were organized at various Army Commands – Northern, Western, Eastern, Southern, Central and South Western Commands. — PTI
