The deadline for linking your Aadhaar card with PAN card is just six days. If you happen to fail to pay the relevant late fee and complete the linking process by December 31, your PAN card will stop working.
You have to pay a penalty before linking PAN with Aadhaar ₹1,000 on the portal of the electronic income tax office. PAN holders who got their cards after October 1, 2024 using Aadhaar login ID can link PAN with Aadhaar for free till December 31, 2025, according to ClearTax.
Apart from the risk of PAN not working, defaulters may also face possible disruption of services that involve the use of PAN cards, Hindustan Times reported earlier.
PAN-Aadhaar linking refers to the process of linking a person’s PAN with their Aadhaar number to verify identity and prevent issuance of duplicate PANs. All taxpayers in India are required to ensure that their PAN-Aadhaar linkage remains active.
