Bharatiya Janata Party’s ‘Atal–Modi Suparipalana Yatra’ has received overwhelming response from people across Andhra Pradesh, PVN party president Madhav said on Wednesday.
Addressing the media here, Mr. Madhav said the yatra helped people, especially the younger generation, to understand the values, vision and contribution of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Mr. Madhav said people expressed joy after seeing the statues of Vajpayee installed as part of the yatra. Vajpayee’s commitment to democratic values, good governance and national development continues to inspire present and future generations, he said, adding that many were surprised to learn the extent of Vajpayee’s contributions to the nation.
Chief ministers from BJP-ruled states, Union ministers and state ministers participated in the yatra and paid rich tributes to Vajpayee’s service and sacrifices for the country.
Mr. Madhav announced that an ‘Atal Smriti Vanam’ and a large statue of Vajpayee would be inaugurated in Amaravati on December 25, on the occasion of Vajpayee’s birth centenary. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and other dignitaries will attend.
When asked about the report that Mr. Naidu and HRD Minister N. Lokesh were the likely candidates for the Prime Minister’s post, he said, “It is a report from WhatsAspp University.” Pointing out that it was a Reuters forecast, he said: “Intelligence agencies have ups and downs. There’s nothing to react to.”
When asked if YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was invited to the Vajpayee statue unveiling programme, he said, “It is an NDA programme.” BJP spokesperson Sheikh Baji and others were present.
