Lokayukta officials on Wednesday detained a deputy commissioner of police in Malleswaram sub-division when he allegedly accepted a bribe of ₹30,000 from a hotelier to allow him to run his business beyond the permitted time limits.
The accused, identified as Krishna Murthy, was arrested and booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The trap followed a complaint by Sanjay Kumar, manager of a hotel in Rajajinagar. The ACP reportedly demanded ₹50,000 to allow the hotel to operate beyond the government-mandated permitted hours.
A day earlier, a sub-inspector posted at Chikkajala police station was caught accepting a bribe of ₹2,000 for filing a ‘B report’ in a cheating case. The Lokayukta police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Ravikumar. PSI Shivanna was arrested while he was allegedly taking bribe, officials said. Officials said the Chikkajala police have registered a case of cheating against Ravikumar. In order to file a ‘B report’ in the case, Shivanna allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹3,000.
